They did not go trick or treating, yesterday, though. I have no problem with the dressing up - I do have a problem with going door to door asking for candy, but that's more my personality as I said before. For those that do it, I have no judgment. If I made it sound like I was, I'm sorry. It's up to you to decide what's best for your family. For me, I just don't like Halloween. But, as one person said yesterday, 'this is the day that the Lord has made...' And I WILL rejoice and be glad in it - as long as I don't have to look at TOO many of the graveyard in the neighbor's lawns!!! :D
(and pics of their costumes are on facebook)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11747984146782559711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6492397585933902089.post-70370232561347860592013-11-01T20:41:36.410-05:002013-11-01T20:41:36.410-05:00Love this! And I can actually google the link and my antivirus will holler if it doesn't like it, so not a problem! Thanks! I haven't checked it out yet, but I have read quite a few other posts from Christian families who are choosing not to participate in Halloween. It seems that there are quite a few who are realizing that this is not something that Christians want to be identified with! I must admit, I thought of you when I wrote the post! :)
My problem is that it's been too long since I read some of these books (and I've read a lot of other books between then and now), and I can't remember what they were about! One such is Caddie Woodlawn - I know I read it, I can vividly remember the cover, but I can't for the life of me remember what the story was about, so it apparently didn't make a huge impression on me, unlike the Anne books, the Little House books, Little women, etc. that I read over and over!
I'll see what of those I can hunt up in audio format.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11747984146782559711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6492397585933902089.post-19658817327038229672013-09-19T00:53:09.938-05:002013-09-19T00:53:09.938-05:00Books!!! **rubbing hands together excitedly...** Y...Books!!! **rubbing hands together excitedly...** Yes, I love books and one of my favorite parts of working at a library is suggesting books to people! :) I have (of course...) written a few blog posts on the subject. Here are a few suggestions from a post I did last December:

The Railway Children – E. Nesbit

Caddie Woodlawn – Carol Ryrie Brink (Magical Melons or Caddie Woodlawn's Family - two titles, same book- is the sequel)

Betsy-Tacy books by Maud Hart Lovelace.

The Bronze Bow – Elizabeth George Spear

Strawberry Girl - Lois Lenski (She wrote many books about girls from different regions, unfortunately, they have become hard to find. This one is fairly common.)

The Pollyanna books – Eleanor Porter

What Katy Did – Susan Coolidge

How's that for a start? :PCharityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00013969916805379124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6492397585933902089.post-4200171862533547332013-09-13T22:06:48.690-05:002013-09-13T22:06:48.690-05:00One of my very favorite songs. Though I may not know you, I asked for opinions, so everyone's opinion counts! I agree that modesty and fashion CAN go together with a little maneuvering!

Brittany, the top is from JessicaLondon.com - I just bought it for 14.99 +shipping! SCORE! Unfortunately for you, it's a website specializing in plus sizes - so unless you can figure out a way to fit in a size 12, you're out of luck on this one - sorry! And you're right - the skirt will be easier to make, but I do like to sew, so I don't mind the more difficult stuff!

Thanks to each of you for your input! I've ordered the top - and will go get the fabric sometime soon, hopefully. Anyone want to suggest shoes? The ones I pictured, I'm not sure if I like with the white top.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11747984146782559711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6492397585933902089.post-20618128454756147202013-04-30T10:17:37.249-05:002013-04-30T10:17:37.249-05:00Oh my, I like them BOTH! But if it were *me*, I'd go with the first one, just because a pencil skirt sounds a lot easier to make than a dress! ;) But I love the idea of a lace dress, too - so classy.
